 Charlotte Church, a Welsh singer-songwriter, actress and television presenter who has an estimated net worth of more than $8 million. She is also an active political participant. Her breakthrough came in the world of music in 1997 at age 11. She became famous in her early years as a classical vocalist singing in English, Welsh, Latin, Italian, and French before moving into pop music in 2005.Charlotte Church was born Charlotte Maria Reed on February 21, 1986, in Llandaff, Cardiff, Wales. When she was born, her parents were already separated. They divorced in 1991. Her mother remarried again in 1992. James Church, her stepfather, adopted her in 1999. Church was raised Roman Catholic. Charlotte started her career in music in 1997, at the age of 11. She sang Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Pie Jesu" over the telephone on the British TV program This Morning. The same year, she appeared on ITV's Big Big Talent Show. Rupert Murdoch hired Church in 1999 to sing "Pie Jesu". The connections Church established there led to concerts at a number of iconic venues, including the Royal Albert Hall. Church also performed for the legendary Dame Shirley Bassey, in Belgium. Church was given a scholarship at Howell's School Llandaff, Cardiff in 1998 to study vocal technique. Church left school one year later.
